Level 3 Diagnostic Technician Course Overview

Advance your scan tool usage into measuring sensors, ignition system diagnostics, injection systems and coding new components, looking at fault code led and non-fault code led faults.

Advance your electrical skills from basic electrical faults to short circuits, Can Bus faults and advanced electrical systems.

Learn about ABS diagnostics to advanced DSC systems and then progress on to SRS systems carrying out detailed diagnostics and live testing procedures.

Learn everything you need to know about reconditioning engines from piston ovality to crank end float and bearing measurements plus many other key areas.

Learn how to diagnose geometry based faults and how to carry out four-wheel alignment adjustments to set up the vehicle correctly.

Who should attend?

The Diagnostic Technician Course is designed to increase your diagnostic skills, especially around electrical fault finding, geometry and reconditioning. A Diagnostic Technician should be working in the light vehicle sector of the industry and ideally have at least three years experience to ensure they are familiar with the skills, knowledge and techniques required to diagnose system faults, rectify the faults including replacing components and return the vehicle systems to manufacturer specification.

For skilled and experienced technicians who are of a standard to complete the assessment only with no training. The assessment can be completed in one day, subject to being of the appropriate standard.

10 Day

Our most popular course for technicians with 3 or more years’ experience with a good background knowledge. This fast track route is ideal for someone who needs assistance in specific areas of the diagnostics before undergoing assessment.

Entry requirements for the Level 3 Diagnostic Technician Course

For entry on to the Level 3 Diagnostic Technician Course, it is necessary to have a minimum of 3 years’ experience. You will have experience of diagnosing and rectifying faults on a wide range of vehicle systems, including electrical system operations. With courses running in our 3 centres every week you can choose to study in a way that suits your requirements and availability.

This course will cover Advanced Engine Diagnostics – advancing your scan tool usage into measuring sensors, ignition system diagnostics, injection systems and coding new components, looking at fault code led and non fault code led faults. Advanced Vehicle Electrics – advance your electrical skills covering basic electrical faults to short circuits, Can Bus faults and advanced electrical systems. Advanced Vehicle Safety Systems – You will learn about ABS diagnostics and advanced DSC systems and then progress to SRS systems carrying out detailed diagnostics and live testing procedures.
