The 5-year MOT tester refresher course has been replaced by annual training and an online assessment.

Between the 1^st April and 31^st March every year, all MOT testers MUST complete three hours of annual training, based on the syllabus published by DVSA and MUST pass an online assessment. The online assessment consists of 30 multiple choice questions and students have a time limit of 45 minutes to complete the exam. You must achieve a minimum of 50% to pass the exam.

What you need to do to complete the Annual Training and Assessment Requirement:

1. Decide how to do your training:

Once way to complete the training is to purchase the Annual Training and Assessment Combined Option with Premier MOT’s E-Learning Portal

2. Take at least 3 hours of training each year (you need to do 16 hours in the rolling 5-year period)

When you purchase the Annual Training and Assessment Combined Option with Premier MOT, we will provide you with the necessary 3 modules you need to train on, plus an additional 2 modules to help with the exam. This will cover up to 5 hours of training in one year.

3. Record your training

When you complete a module, on our e-Learning platform, we will provide you with a certificate of completion, which you can print and file at your VTS, should you need to prove that you have completed the Annual Training.

4. Book and take your annual assessment

The online mot annual assessment is included in our package. The assessment is a 30 multiple choice question, open book exam. You have 45 minutes to complete the exam and need a minimum 50% mark to pass.

5. Record your assessment result
